India’s automobile sector has already seen a number of major releases in the first two months of the year. However, the pace will not be slowed down in the least. Most of the major automakers have already confirmed the arrival of new models in the coming months. These include Maruti Suzuki, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Jeep. Take a look at the following list of SUVs and automobiles that will be available in the Indian market by May 2022.

Volkswagen Virtus

Volkswagen has unveiled the ‘Virtus,’ a new mid-size car that would replace the Vento in the German automaker’s Indian lineup as a replacement. Like the Skoda Slavia, which went on sale only a few weeks ago, the VW sedan will ride on the MQB A0 IN platform. The 1.5-liter TSI turbo petrol engine will only be available on the sporty-looking GT trim level of the Virtus. An 8-speaker audio system and ambient lighting are among Virtus’ features. The vehicle also features a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connected-car technology and a ventilated front seat.

Toyota Glanza

Glanza owners should expect an upgrade from Toyota to keep up with the newly announced new Maruti Suzuki Baleno, on which the Glanza is based. As of now, the hatchback has already been pre-ordered at dealerships and on Toyota’s official website. These brand-new photos of the 2022 Glanza show off its revised grille, which is connected to its slimmer LED headlights by a horizontal strip of chrome. For example, an expanded free-standing touchscreen infotainment system with six airbags, a head-up display, a 360-degree camera, and other new technologies will be installed in the interior. New Glanza will have a 1.2-liter 4-cylinder K-Series engine giving out 89 horsepower, coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission or an optional AMT (automatic transmission). On March 15, the company will unveil its new high-end hatchback.

Toyota Hilux

In the near future, Toyota will begin selling its Hilux pickup truck, which is yet another vehicle manufactured by the automaker. The Hilux was unveiled and reservations began in India in January, and pricing is expected to be announced this month. Using the same chassis as the Innova Crysta and Fortuner, the Hilux has a 2.8-litre diesel engine that provides 204PS, mated with 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions, as well as a standard four-wheel drive (AWD). There will be an 8-inch infotainment screen, dual-zone temperature control, an 8-way power driver’s seat with cruise control, up to seven airbags and more in the next Isuzu D-Max V-Cross rivalling pickup truck.

Jeep Meridian

In May, Jeep will introduce the three-row Meridian in the United States. As a layperson would guess, the Meridian is basically a larger three-row Compass. Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, and Skoda Kodiaq will all compete with the seven-seater in India. A 2.0-liter diesel engine that produces 173 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque will be offered at launch for the Jeep Meridian. However, there will be an extra row of seats in the rear for passengers in the Meridian.

Honda City Hybrid

After a few years of preparation, a launch is expected in the next few months for a hybrid version of Honda City that will be sold in the Indian market. The Honda City hybrid will be the most cheap hybrid vehicle in India when it arrives. A 1.5-liter petrol engine with 98 horsepower and two electric motors are slated to power the Honda City hybrid. As a generator, one electric motor powers the vehicle, while the other, rated at 109PS/253 Nm, does the actual driving. A completely electric option will also be available for the City hybrid. At the moment, Honda City models vary in price from Rs 11.23 lakh to Rs 15.18 lakh, with the hybrid model expected to be the most expensive (ex-showroom).

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Facelift

A midlife makeover for Maruti Suzuki’s Ertiga MPV is expected to be unveiled soon after updates to the Baleno and Wagon R. A new grille and new alloy wheels are the only aesthetic alterations that seem to have been made to the vehicle in spy images. Additionally, the 1.5-liter four-cylinder NA petrol engine and 5-speed manual gearbox will likely be kept. Nevertheless, the 4-speed AT transmission might be replaced with a new 6-speed AT transmission. The most recent version of Maruti Suzuki’s SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system will almost certainly be available for the MPV.

Maruti Suzuki XL6 Facelift

The XL6 is essentially a six-seater Ertiga with a more upscale interior. The new 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox that was introduced in the Ertiga will also be used in the XL6. In addition to new alloy wheels, the MPVs front end might be altered somewhat. Mid-life refresh of Maruti Suzuki’s XL6 would result in a little rise in the XL6’s retail price of Rs 10.14 – 12.02 lakh (ex-showroom).

Hyundai Tucson 4th Generation

The fourth-generation Hyundai Tucson is finally making its way to India, where it is scheduled to be on sale in the next few months. With the introduction of a new ‘Parametric’ grille, completely merged with LED DRLs, the exterior appearance will undergo a dramatic redesign. The interior design and arrangement of the new SUV will also be improved. A 152 horsepower/192 pound-feet of torque 2.0-liter gasoline engine and an 185 horsepower/400 pound foot torque 2.0-liter diesel engine are anticipated to be retained for the India-spec next Tucson generation. AWD is an option on the diesel-powered Tucson for the time being.
